Branded & Printed Glow Sticks

A branded glow stick is read in the dark, by its own light, which is a completely different design problem from a branded pen.

Solid ink printed directly onto the tube blocks the glow underneath it, so a heavy logo reads as a dark silhouette and the stick looks broken. A printed outer sleeve, or a light open line-art print on the tube, lets the light through and around the mark instead. Either works; a solid fill does not.

Keep the artwork simple and open for the same reason, and expect us to redraw it free. A logo that is beautiful on a business card is usually the wrong weight for something that is lit from behind by a tube of chemistry.

Why does our printed logo look like a dark patch?

It was printed as a solid fill straight onto the tube, so the ink is blocking the light behind it. A printed sleeve or open line art lets the glow through and around the mark. It is the single most common mistake on branded glow sticks.

Which glow colour should we use with our logo?

Whichever gives the print the most contrast, which is not always your brand colour. Green is brightest and makes dark line art read best. We will show you a mockup lit rather than unlit, because unlit tells you nothing.
